Background
Hello! I'm Michael, a therapist in Austin, Texas. Coming from a family with many therapists, I developed a passion for helping people on their journey to understanding, loving, and empowering themselves, receiving my graduate training in clinical mental health counseling at Wake Forest University after previously working with children on the autism spectrum. I'm always looking into new therapy approaches and building my awareness and expertise in helping patients heal from difficult experiences and their consequences. Outside of therapy, I perform in a few bands around Austin, am an avid cook, and love to move and get outside.
As a psychotherapist, I have worked with individuals, couples, groups, and families to unravel the deep wounds of trauma, overcome crippling anxiety and depression, explore their identities and what gives their life meaning, process major life transitions and events, and create holistic plans to enact positive changes. To help enact change with clients, I have received training in acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma-informed and anxiety-informed therapies, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, among others.
As your therapist, my main focus is to be in your corner, get to know your concerns and experiences, and provide tools and insight to help you move past and learn from difficult experiences, harness your personal values, and strengthen your relationship with yourself.
